Michael
and Celeste Hebert
Missionaries to Togo, West Africa

Since
1973, Celeste has been an independent Methodist missionary sent
out under Baars St., United Methodist Church in Pensacola, Florida.
Over the last 30 years Baars St. has faithfully supported her with
their finances and prayers. She began her missionary career in Senegal.
Throughout the years, she has ministered in Sierra Leon, Liberia,
and Nigeria. In 1998 she and Michael were married and together they
have ministered in Togo.
She
holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and is a registered nurse.
She has a Bachelor's of Theology degree. She later received her
Master's of Science in Community Health Development from Indiana
Wesleyan University.
Michael
is a disabled Washington State fire fighter/paramedic. Since he
was injured three times as a fire fighter paramedic he had to resign
his career in 1997. He comes from an Assemblies of God church.
Michael
has medical clinics in the bush villages to treat the sick while
Celeste spends most of her time training village health workers.
She has trained hundreds of village health workers in both Nigeria
and Togo. Celeste also started a small cafe in Kara, Togo where
she sells milkshakes, cakes, and sandwiches to American missionaries
and the Peace Corps. The cafe provides occupational assistance,
discipleship, business classes, and health education to young women
who are unable to provide for themselves.
Michael
and Celeste support the Christian radio station and preach a weekly
Bible program. Additionally, they are helping two Bible school students
with school fees and administering additional financial aid for
seven Togolaise pastors/missionaries to the unreached areas of northern
Togo.
It
is their goal to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with every person
in Togo who have not heard about God's love. They believe every
human has the right to hear the Good News: the news that Jesus Christ
loved us so much He gave His life as a living sacrifice for our
sins.
